Aluvia, Cabernet Franc, Mendoza 2023
91pts Wine Spectator
Fine and elegant, with a well-balanced expression of spices and red fruit. It exhibits excellent typicity, with firm tannins, and a dynamic, contemporary profile.
The vineyard is located in Gualtallary, a district of Tupungato in the Uco Valley, home to the highest-altitude vineyards in Mendoza. Its combination of poor soils, climate, and elevation creates an exceptional terroir. The soil consists of medium alluvial stones covered with calcareous patinas, mixed with sand and limestone deposits. The region experiences fresh days and cold nights, enhancing the balance and complexity of its wines.
The harvest begins in the first week of April. The grapes are hand-harvested, carefully sorted, and gently destemmed without crushing the berries. Alcoholic fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks, followed by post-fermentation maceration for approximately 25 days to extract color and tannins. The wine is then aged for 16 months in second- and third-use French oak barrels.
